We have been preparing for confirmation over the past few months. This year we have gone to two confirmation ceremonies. The first one was an Enrolment mass and the second mass was The Mass of the Holy Spirit. In school we have been preparing for our confirmation by doing our artwork. You can see it on display in our hall.
In early October 2017, Conor came in every Friday for eight weeks. At the start we played some games. Next we worked on jumping up and catching the ball we also worked on kicking and passing the ball to other people. At the end we were divided into two teams and played a match. After the eight weeks we went to a Gaelic match. We played against two teams. But we didn't get through to the next round. We will try again next year.
This January we started swimming in Grove Island. Every Friday we get collect by the bus at around 11:00 o'clock. When we arrive at swimming we go get changed. Juniors up to 4th go to a big dressing room . There is a boys dressing and a girls. 5th and 6th can go to there own dressing rooms. Then we go into our swimming groups and begin to swim. So far I have learned front stroke, breast stroke, and back stroke.After swimming we get changed . Once were all changed we get back on the bus.
We are celebrating Grandparents as part of Catholic Schools week.
Grandparents Day took place on the 31st of January 2018. First we brought in pictures of us with our grandparents and wrote our favourite memory with them. We displayed them on our wall in the hallway. In our classroom we had had a reading, 3 prayers of the faithful, 2 poems and 2 songs. After we had tea and coffee with our parents and grandparents. We all had a great day. Over the last week we have been preparing for Grandparents day. It is part of Catholic schools week. Our Grandparents will come to our school and we will have a mass with Father Delaney. We will have a reading, two poems, three prayers of the faithful and a lovely song. After that, we will have tea, coffee and cakes for the Grandparents.
Yesterday we went to see a Panto. We went to see Jack and the beanstalk.They sang lots of songs.The giant was big and cool.The funny part was when we saw Jack's mum's underpants. My favourite song was let it go. The whole school went. My favourite part was when Jack's mum was in the kitchen singing a song. My favourite character was Jill. We had a great day.
Santa came to the school on Monday. I got a selection box and a candy cane.He asked me what I wanted for Christmas. He was so nice.We got a photo with him I had a great day the end Last Wednesday all children from 3rd to 6th went to the County Cross Country Championships in Thurles. There was almost 3,000 children running in Thurles on that day. We competed in the extra small schools category. There was individual and team races. It was our first time at the championships and we did very well. Our third and fourth class girls team were placed third out of 26 teams. Abbie placed 5th overall and the twins Eryn and Aoife were 16th and 18th respectfully. Everyone tried their best and everyone finished their races. It was an enjoyable day and we are already looking forward to next year.
We had a WSE-MLL on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 16th, 17th and 18th of September. Our inspector was Carmel O Doherty. It was a fairly pleasant experience and the children loved giving their views on the school. We received our Oral Report on Monday 22nd September and it was positive. We are awaiting our written report at the moment.
Yesterday was our sports day. There were four teams: Brilliant Blues, Gangster Greens, Radiant Reds and Lightning Yellows. There were a lot of games to play: Tag rugby, obstacle course, water relay, the egg and spoon race, the 3 legged race and penalty shootout. My favourite one was the clothes relay.
