Active Break Challenge
We took part in Active Break Challenge for the months of November and December both in 2019 and 2020
Each class will take 3 active breaks per day for 4 Weeks
The Active School Committee will keep a close eye to make sure each class remembers to do them.
These active breaks are incorporated into our daily school routine and both classes take at least 3 different active breaks each day, all the year round.

- A dance break
- An exercise break
- A running break

Break Times
Pupils are outside for 15 mins before school starts each day.
We have two daily break, in which children are outside playing in most types of weather. Pupils have access to all parts of the yard, where they have lots of room to run about. For those rainy days, pupils take part in active breaks, exercises, running , dancing etc. Pupils have access to a range of equipment , that they can play with at both breaks. |
Physical activity throughout the school year
Physical activity is incorporated into special occasions throughout the school year.
Halloween 2019
For Halloween this year our active school committee came up with some new activities as part of the Halloween Stations
- pumpkin toss
- pumpkin pass
- ghoulish bowling
- and of course or musical statues dance off.

We were so lucky that we had a lovely day , so that we could do all of our Halloween activities outside this year

Christmas
Active School Walkway
We had hoped to launch our walkway during out Active Schools Week 2020, but unfortunately we were unable.
It was officially launched by our 3, 6th class students, Alex, Conor and Mairead, when they cut the ribbon, on a wet an windy, 3rd of December 2020!

Run a Day
Run around Europe Challenge
We took part in the Run around Europe Challenge from the 13th of Jan - 7th of Feb 2020
The playground leaders recorded how many laps each pupil did each day and marked off the map of all the places we visited around Europe.

Yoga
We did Yoga with Wendy for 6 weeks before Christmas. So relaxing and calming.
Dance Workshop
The senior class entered a competition to win a dance workshop day for the school. Check out our winning entry here.

Basketball Tournament 2020
We had been practicing our basketball skills for few weeks in Nov/Dec and put them to the test in a tournament.
We also put our two new basketball hoops to the test! A very close final between Liverhampton B.C and the Tiobráid Árann Legends, with the the Tiobráid Árann Legends coming out on top.🏆 With the Potatoe Yodas and the Basketball Bananas taking 3rd and 4th place. Great teamwork from everyone, well done!! 🏀🏀 |
