We started off with a beanbag relay. You had to try to balance the beanbag on your head to the end and back. Our team came 3rd. Then we did the egg and spoon race but we used a potato instead of an egg. We also did a sack race, a 3 legged race, a clothes relay, a water relay, a jigsaw relay and different races. Our team came first in the 3 legged race. We did throwing. I threw it the furthest. It was fun. Then we got ice pops and oranges. The most important thing was tag rugby! My team got 3 trys. It was the best thing ever!
We had our sports day yesterday. I liked the tag rugby. We used bibs as tags. We won 3:0. It was so fun. The 3 legged race was fun too. The balloon race was so fun too. Then we had penalty shootout, I was in my bare feet and I scored 4 goals! During the clothes relay I had to wear a Limerick jersey. It was wrong. I hate Limerick!! It was really a fun day.
On Thursday last we went on our school tour. We went to the Let's Go School Tour Camp in Delta Sports Dome In Limerick. It was a great day. We got to do bungee trampoline, zorbing, Air Mountain, Human Table Football (see pic), Spider Tower, wobbly ladder, Olympic handball and cup stacking. We all thought that the cup stacking was boring but everything else was great. Zorbing was our favourite. We were tired after the camp but went shopping all the same in the Crescent shopping centre. We ate in KFC and "shopped til we dropped." We were home in school at 6pm. We wrote reviews of the day in school and all of us gave the trip a high rating. On Saturday it was my communion. In the church there were lots of people. We got a lot of photos. We got like 500 photos. When mass started we stood up and sang happy in the presence of the lord. Then I said a prayer and a prayer of the faithful. I gave Miss O Brien and Sister Caramel flowers. I got to my house last. When I went in I saw everyone from school sitting on the stairs. They all said where were you? I said at the church . We played pass the parcel and we had food. Then we had the cake. Then I went go karting. I didn’t crash once in half an hour.
On the 27th of may I went to Dublin for the Art Texaco awards. First I got up at 8 o'clock in the morning, we dropped my little sister to school and my mom and I went to the train station in Limerick to go to Dublin. We met my grandma there and went on the train. We were in the train for about 15 minutes and then we took another train. That train took 2 hours and then we were in Dublin. We went to the Royal Hospital where the awards were. We stood beside our art work and got our picture taken. The president was there and he was looking at our work and was talking to us. Then we had to sit down to be called up to the stage and get our picture taken. After that there was food and drinks in a room where we got our prize. I won a special merit award and got art supplies. We went walking outside in the gardens with my mom, grandma and uncle. It was a really good day. We took two trains to get back to Limerick and then I went home.
Next Thursday May 29 the senior classes are going on their school tour. They are going to Delta Sports Dome to attend the Let's Go School Tour Camp. The bus leaves school at 9.20 and camp begins at 10.00. There are lots of different activities planned for the day including bouncing castles, space mountain, zorbing, wrecking ball and spider climbing tower. Children will need to bring a packed lunch and lots of drinks. All children MUST wear tracksuits and runners and bring a long sleeved t-shirt to protect arms from slide burns. Camp finishes at 4.00 and then the children will go to the Crescent Shopping Centre . There they will eat in KFC and do some all important shopping. Reminder: The school will buy each child a kids meal in KFC. Children will return to school at 6.00pm approx. Last Friday all the children from Second class up went to Thurles for a GAA blitz. When we got there we were split up into groups and put into mixed teams with other schools. We played three matches, one of which was on the main pitch in Semple Stadium. We all got our photos taken under the tunnel in the field and got to see the stadium. Three of us played football and everyone else played hurling. It was a wonderful experience and it will be treasured for years to come. On the way home, we all got ice-pops. Thanks to Tipperary GAA for the wonderful day.
For the last couple of weeks we have been doing our summer tests in English and Maths. They were difficult but everyone did their best.
